The Before
DL has been a closet horror writer her entire life. Early jaunts into the genre began as far back as middle school. She buried the urge to create monsters under degree work in science, then interior design, to no avail.
DL spent her formative years in Massachusetts, nurturing a healthy interest in the goings on of Salem and ye olde New England folklore. She learned about the tribes who populated the area before the puritans arrived with their silly notions of propriety and religion. When she moved to Virginia, she began to explore one of the south’s great contributions to horror. The Appalachian wilderness has already inspired several short stories.
The muse for her first full length novel came from the over twenty years she’s spent in the construction industry, with its greed, bald ambition, and formidable work ethic, mixed with a healthy dose of research-backed tribal pedagogy.
She is an active member of the Horror Writers Association and is mother to a small host of animals, one amazing child and a very forgiving husband. To feed her habit, she’s up before the sun (and kid), every morning, writing.
